What a 1–5 picker is good for
- Choosing between five options: places to eat, chores, songs or activities.
- Random ratings: generate sample 1–5 scores for testing a survey or review form.
- Small groups: split people into up to five groups, or decide who presents first.
- Party games: “pick a number between 1 and 5” for dares, rounds or prizes.
Each number has a 20% chance. Set “How many numbers” to 5 with “No repeats” on to shuffle 1–5 into a random order.
Frequently asked questions
Why do people often guess 3 when asked to pick 1–5?
People tend to avoid the ends of a range and pick something that feels “random”, so middle numbers are over-chosen. A generator has no such bias: each number is equally likely.
Can I get two different numbers?
Yes. Set “How many numbers” to 2 and keep “No repeats” on.
