Static codes that never expire
Many “free” QR services create dynamic codes that point to their own redirect server, then stop working when a trial ends. This generator creates static codes: the data is stored in the pattern itself, so the code keeps working forever and doesn't depend on any service, including ours.
The trade-off is that a static code can't be edited after printing. If a link might change, point the code at a page you control.
Tips for codes that scan reliably
- Keep contrast high. A dark code on a light background scans best. Inverted or pale colors can fail on some phones.
- Leave the quiet zone. The white border around the code is part of it; don't crop it away.
- Print it large enough. As a rule of thumb, the code should be at least 2 × 2 cm, and bigger for posters read from a distance.
- Use higher error correction if the code may get scratched or you plan to place a small logo over it.
- Test before printing, with more than one phone.
Frequently asked questions
Can I put my logo in the QR code?
Yes. Upload a PNG, JPG, SVG or WebP image and it is placed in the center on a small plate. The generator switches error correction to the highest level (30%), so phones can still read the code even though the logo covers part of it. Keep good contrast and test the code with your phone before printing. The image stays in your browser and is never uploaded.
Do these QR codes expire?
No. They're static codes with the data inside the pattern, so they work as long as the printed code is readable.
PNG or SVG: which should I download?
PNG works everywhere, including documents and social media. SVG is a vector file that stays sharp at any size, which makes it best for print and design tools.
Is there a limit on scans?
No. Scanning happens entirely on the phone, so there's no tracking and no limit.
Is my Wi-Fi password sent anywhere?
No. The code is generated in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to a server.
