Where to use a typed signature
- Email signatures and letterheads.
- Documents you sign digitally, where a typed signature is accepted.
- Design work: thank-you cards, certificates and artwork.
- Inspiration for your own handwritten signature: pick a style and practice it on paper.
Whether a typed signature is legally valid depends on the document and your country's e-signature rules. For contracts, use the signing method the other party requires.
How to get a signature that looks natural
Use your real signing name
Most people sign with a first initial and full surname, or the other way around. Try both.
Add a slight slant
Real handwriting leans a little. A slant of 5–10° usually looks most natural.
Pick dark blue ink
Blue signals an original signature, which is why it's the traditional choice for documents.
Download a transparent PNG
It sits cleanly on any document or email background.
Frequently asked questions
Is the downloaded signature transparent?
Yes. Both PNG and SVG downloads have a transparent background.
Is my name sent anywhere?
No. Signatures are drawn in your browser with web fonts; your name is never sent to a server.
Can I use these fonts commercially?
The fonts are from Google Fonts and released under the SIL Open Font License, which allows personal and commercial use.
